EF2
UNIT 7
To tell the truth.
Preparation: none
Procedure: Students work in groups of
three. They decide on an interesting experience
that has happened to one of them. This
needs to be a true story. That person
tells the story to the others in as much
detail as possible. They all decide on
the same first sentence to introduce the
story. (Example: When I was 16, I
went swimming in (place). I saw a shark.).
They join one or two other groups. Each
person pretends the experience really
happened to them. They tell the story
as if it did. Then people from the other
groups ask follow-up questions. They try
to figure out who it really happened to.
Of course, the people who are only pretending
will have to make up answers.
In the end, everyone decides who is telling
the truth. That person stands up. Then
the other group(s) has/have a turn.
If possible, have everyone tell their
story two or three times (to different
groups of partners). Their language level
gets better. So does the made-up information.
